There are motorized scooters EVERYWHERE! It seems that half the population in Taipei rides a scooter. If you're not sure what a scooter/motor bike is, it's like a vesper but on steroids. Everyone from adolescents to elderly! Even dogs are earning their frequent scooter miles.
I can't understand why some of the major American cities (New York...) don't follow trends like this. Especially since Americans seem to love independence and control in their lives, you'd think that more would opt for a scooter over public transit. After scooting around now for a bit, I'm seriously considering it.
